OK. I have turned off reverse levels. If high and low are above 271 low drops to 271. If both are below 124 then high goes up to 124 so I assune these are the numbers I am looking for. If I set values of say 132 and 163 then the hihat starts to randomly switch between closed and open. Opening closing the pedal still has no effect though. I have tried 10, 20, and 30 above low and below high. Still no effect from the pedal. Am I doing everything right?

Is the pedal press-to-make or press-to-break?
How is connected to the pedal input (sleeve/ring/tip)?

Pressing the pedal down brings a metal plate into the proximity of an electro-magnet by the look of it. The pedal uses a mono 1/4 inch jack cable to connect to the dm5. I've used both a mono and stereo cable with the megadrum.

Resistance between 1) sleeve and tip when depressed and when pressed, 2) sleeve and ring when depressed and when pressed.

On the MegaDrum is it a tip you have connected to the pedal input and a ring to power? If yes, is it a tip connected to the pedal's internal switch? If both yes then:
1. Set AutoLevels to Yes.
2. Set LowLevel to 10 and HiLevel to 900.
3. Go to LowLevel, and while keeping the pedal pressed try to raise the LowLevel as high as it allows. What maximum value do you get?
4. Go to HiLevel, and while keeping the pedal depressed try to bring the HiLevel as low as it allows. What minimum value do you get?

Ah. Sorry. I've just had the 1/4 inch jack cable going from the pedal to the pedal input on the back of the megadrum. I need to wire it up to the pedal power polarity stuff too? OK I'll try and find out how to do it.
Apologies for the red herring.

No you don't need to provide the power from MegaDrum to the pedal. I just want you to show me that you connect the pedal's switch to the pedal input and you're sure about this.

Try using it on the alternative input, it worked best for me (DIY switch consisting of foam and leftover copper board ).
