You're missing the entire point of this thread. This isn't a "toot your horn about how great MegaDrum is" thread. Dmitri asked "Why is drum module X better than MegaDrum?" Clearly Dmitri wants to know how he can further improve MegaDrum. So tell him.
As a potential MegaDrum user I'm saying it could be SIGNIFICANTLY improved and would greatly increase the user base if it was available as a pre-built unit. Create a completed 1/2 rack 22 input unit and sell it for $149 shipped to the US. BAM! Now it's directly competing with the Alesis Trigger IO, though you still don't have the recognizable brand name. But you'd be beating it out on inputs.
I think Synthex is moving down the right path with his all-in-one kits. But they're still not COMPLETE kits. The user is still left to source other parts, jacks, chassis, etc. A mid-point might be to sell a completely sourced kit that comes with EVERYTHING. Then the user simply has to assemble and solder. But not print boards, spend time locating companies to buy parts from, etc.
Obviously for those that want to do it all themselves there's the board prints and knowledge readily available here. And those users would likely save money sourcing everything themselves.
This same scenario is true for e-drum triggers. You can buy the piezo, foam, double-sided sticky tape, etc. yourself. Build a jig to get a nice cone. Bam you're banging out cones for a couple bucks each. But it doesn't stop handfuls of people from buying pre-made cones, including from DYI users just building them and reselling them. Some people simply don't want, can't, don't want the hassle of, (insert reason here) to build it themselves.
