the next step?

Hello!

So, megadrum has already positional sensing, but I was thinking of some more features:

1) more zones
wouldn't it be possible to support more than 3 zones? For example a 4 zone pad with a piezo and 3 switches. The first switch with no resistor, second with 10k (like yamaha) and third with 20k or something. Wouldn't that be possible that megadrum detects more zones by using different resistors?

2) pressroll detection
In Superior Drummer 2.0 i found a sample for pressrolls. Wouldn't it be possible, if megadrum detects a lot of hits, that it automatically switches to a pressroll sound? It would be more natural. I think the roland modules (td9/td12) have got this feature.

3) features from edrummonitor into megadrum
I downloaded edrummonitor, its a nice programm. There, you have options like alternating midi notes and so on. Could you programm features like this into megadrum, dimitri?

Thank you for answers!

It can possibly be added but would need a pad to test it with.

I think it could be implemented. A question which comes first so my mind is what should be considered a pressroll and how it is different form, e.g., a fast roll. Don't drum samplers already have an ability to detect pressrolls?

It also can be done. The only question here again is: don't drum samplers already have an ability to alternate/vary samples?

OK that sounds nice! When would you implement this? For testing you could use a few buttons/switches.

I don't think that any vst sampler has got a detection, I never heard about it.

OK they have the ability to alternate, but they don't have features like velocity controlled output.
Further not everybody uses a vst sampler. I use for example a drummachine, too. So in this case a learn function would be great.

When I have something to develop/test with.

For testing you could use a few buttons/switches.

When I'll have time to do this. Most likely not any time soon. My previous 3-zone mock didn't work well so the 3-zone implementation had a flaw until I got a real 3-zone cymbal.

I don't think that any vst sampler has got a detection, I never heard about it.

Then it is just a question of a strict pressroll definition.

What is "velocity controlled output"?

Further not everybody uses a vst sampler. I use for example a drummachine, too.

You're right, should have thought about it myself since I use a drum machine myself most of the time.

So in this case a learn function would be great.

What "learn function"? You only mentioned notes alternation. Please, list requested features separately otherwise I can easily get confused:)

Dmitri I know that you answered the question somewhere, but when I load MCT the hihat pedal input always sends a signal. In my case 119 and if I click on reverse and it send a signal of 1. So if I record midi data of my drums I always get some hihat control data. Is it possible to make a feature to deactivate the pedal in the future?

2nd is it possible the change dyntime from fixed values like 8, 16 ... to 8 - 64 in 1,0 steps?

Thanks

Change pedal type from F.Contr to Pot.

I will think about adding more granularity.

OK sorry :D
With learn function I mean, if I hit a pad, that megadrum automatically switches in the menu to the pad settings of that pad.

dimitri wrote:What is "velocity controlled output"?

Velocity controlled output means that you can set for every velocity a seperate midi note. So for example If I hit the rim softly of a pad I get a sidestick sound, if I hit the rim hard I get the rimshot sound. These features can you find in EdrumMonitor.

dimitri wrote:Then it is just a question of a strict pressroll definition.

You could make individual settings for this, for example if i want a pressroll sound If i make that number of hits, or antother amount of hits.
So everybody could find his personal settings.

I have another question:
Is it possible to get just a rimshot sound if hit rim and head at the same time? That would be nice.

edit:
and another thing:
Is the use of a pressure sensor possible :D ? For dampening sounds or something (in superior there is sample for that) The Roland vh-12 has got such a sensor, or the korg wavedrum.
If you can implement this dreams....then you have a awesome triggermodule with more and greater features than any other brand :D

Thanks for answers!

regards

Pssst...Coralgol...I think that function is already available.

See http://www.megadrum.info/content/miscelenous-settings:
"<Quick Access >< No >
When set to Yes you can quickly jump between inputs in the Menu rather than navigate to each input using LEFT/RIGHT keys. First enter the Menu, then press the HiHat pedal and then hit a pad you want to configure. Whenever you hit another pad while still holding the HiHat pedal pressed and still in the Menu, it will jump to the last hit pad input.
When set to No you can quickly load next/previous drum map by pressing keys UP/DOWN while not in the Menu and holding the HiHat pedal pressed. May be useful for live performances to quickly load different drum maps?

Coralgol! You've got some very good feature requests!

Press roll detection would be great! And the ability to be able to tweak it to personal taste would make it be even better.

Rimshot trigger if rim and head are hit at the same time, just like a real rimshot. BOOM! That would be awesome. It could also be tweakable by threshold and time-settings.

Dyntime in both fixed and manual values would also rock. Good one Ramsh!
