Latest firmware won't update - ARM 32 input

Brand new Megadrum arrived yesterday. A big thank you to Dmitri for a super quick and efficient service - ordered on Saturday, received on Wednesday!!

I downloaded latest MDM, connected MD, uploaded angr77's files and I was making sounds in next to no time :)
However, I get a message telling me to upgrade to the latest firmware version for best compatibility with MDM (my current installed FW: 20140417). I've downloaded the latest firmware and gone through the update process via MDM with the appropriate bin file but when clicking 'start', there's a brief pause and then the message: 'Megadrum is not responding'.

I can communicate with MD and I'm making sounds via Addictive Drums/Savihost so not having the latest FW doesn't appear to be causing any problems I'm aware of. Searched the forum, downloaded MDUpdate and read all about bootloader etc but if I understand things correctly, none of that is necessary with the latest ARM modules... i.e. it can all be done via the Firmware update menu option in MDM. Where am I going wrong?

Meanwhile, back to more tweaking of settings ;)

If firmware upgrade in MDM fails, use viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1252 - it always works.

Sorted!
Used Firelord's MDUpdate widget that appears on page 2 of the thread you linked to.
Thanks.

John M,

Good to hear that you solved it! Updating the FW from a PC using the internal MDM FW update process seems to have been broken. It has been harder and harder to get the FW to update for some reason. But if you own a Mac... the MDM FW process works like a charm. We have been discussing this... but the time for fixing this have not been there. The fwupdate in a command window always work on a PC based system... and obviously firelords old hack! :-)

Hope you get your gears up and running in time before the recordings starts!

Best Regards

ANGR77

Angr77,

Thanks for your input. It was after reading many of your posts and blog articles I decided to go down the megadrum route. I'm holding you fully responsible!! :D

First steps have been promising. As mentioned earlier, your shared files had me up and running almost immediately. I've now started making my own adjustments and learning what effect the various options have i.e. the same routine all megadrummers must go through! I have mesh heads and Triggera triggers. Biggest issue at the moment is making the snare work properly - it's very quiet compared to the toms (one top and one floor) and isn't reacting in a realistic manner. On the other hand, my converted acoustic cymbals are sounding really good already. Plenty more to do before this hits the studio!

If I need to dig deeper into a specific issue I'll start a new thread.

I just published a new MDM version which should fix the 'Firmware upgrade' issue on all Windows versions. Thanks to angr77 for extensive testing!
