Hey guys,

I've connected one of my pads just to check the pads work and every time I try to configure it I get a red highlighted "MIDI Init Error" where there should be green highlighted text,

Could this be a problem with how I've connected the pad to the pins or another problem?

The "MIDI Init Error" is MDM not comunicating MD.

Go to Main/Options in the drop down menu and configure the port to see Megadrum.

I know the the MIDI in/out port has to be the same but I'm not sure about the ChainID or the SysEx delay,

You don't need to worry about ChainID or the SysEx delay, just leave them as is.
