Hello all, first post here and I just purchased a megadrum today. I have a question that I hope some of you can help with(thanks Gastric for your input), what have most of you done to cut the opening for your lcd screen cleanly in aluminum and or plastic (I have both)? What did you do to finish the opening, faceplate? Thanks Kurt

I think you can buy a frame to cover the hole you cut.
This will give it a nice clean look.

I haven't done mine yet, but I plan on using a router with a small cutting bit and just filing down the corners to get it square.

Thanks for your kind responses guys keep em coming ;) , Gastric actually cut his with a dremel and a metal ruler as a guide. I was going to try an drill the four corners and then use a jig saw and a file to clean it all up. I'll post pic when I'm done in about a week or so. Kurt

The problem with cutting plastic is keeping whatever tool you're using in a perfectly straight line. The Dremel router bit I chose was for drywall or wood, I really can't remember what I bought it for, but it is long and overly flexible when used with force. Thus it moves around too much and caused an untrue line cut. Some sort of seriously hard blade that you can keep in a perfect position along all axis would be more ideal. Probably a real router mounted in a table would be better than a Dremel. But you have to use whatever tools you have available. ;)

I have a router and I'm wondering how you would make a jig for this?
Any ideas for cutting aluminum? Thanks :D

Can anyone give me thew dimensions of the lcd cut out. I want to install it so that only the screen shows and not the black trim ring around the lcd screen like dmitri did with his 56 input megadrum. Thanks 8-)
