I tried winpic trough serial port, icsp. For the atmega, I followed the main site's instructions for isp programming with ponyprog. Thanx

Make a very detailed description of the exact steps you did when you tried to program your Atmega and also very detailed description of the problem you have and I'm sure somebody will be able to come up with suggestions.

OK.

After doing all the soldering and placing components, I built the LPT-ISP cable, with resistor values of 550 ohm and 670 ohm, as this board design is missing the 330 ohm resistors. After applying usb power and conecting the cable, i followed the instructions on programming, using ponyprog. I used atmega32-16pu with 20 mhz xtal. When trying to write or read, i get the error "Unknown or missing device", or something like that.

LCD, keyboard and analog board where not connected to the digital board. Also, I placed a jumper instead of the midi led.

I would appreciate any suggestion.

Thanx again.

Here is a few things I suggest to check:

1. Is ISP wired and plugged correctly? How long is the cable?
2. Is LPT port functional? Can you try to program on another computer?
3. Is Atmega32 brand new? Has it ever been programmed before?
4. What are the voltages on pins 10,30 and 32 of Atmega32 when you try to program it?

Hi

This might be a long shot, but I had similar problems and it turned out the lpt socket wasn't inserting properly in my pc - it kind of gave way slightly when I pressed it in. I have to take the cover off ( the pc), and press the lpt port from the inside to get it properly plugged in, and then it works fine.

My 2 cents...
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.

1 - Checked many many times. About 15 cm long.

2 - Printer used to work, but ill try on a different computer when I can.

3 - Atmega is new. Ive tried to program it many times, so I cant be sure if there was a shortcut that could affect it.

4 - ¿when or while? ill check both!

And ill find a way to test the LPT port.

Thanks a lot.

Synthex, i have a question. In the digital board, the analog conector uses 15 pins but in the analog board only uses 9 pins. Is that correct?

Yes, that's correct. ;)
Why do you use this old design ?

I think this is more easy to to at home, so if i substitute the 16pins connector for a 9 pin connector will work? and the ressistors are not needed to?

The v2.5 is more easy to to at home.

As you wish for connectors.
Resistors are needed !
